Poitou Charentes

On the French Atlantic Coast, Poitou-Charentes is ideally located between south and north, offering a sunny climate and making it easy to reach, being near Brittany and adjacent to the Loire castles and Bordeaux. The Atlantic coast here includes some attractive (and very popular) islands such as Ile de Ré (and its main town of St-Martin-de Ré) and Ile d'Oléron. The Charente River can be explored, as it passes through miles of rolling countryside between Angoulème and Rochefort, and is popular with visitors wanting to see the landscape of the region.
